The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has announced the payment dates for the COVID-19 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) R350 grant in February 2024 for approved beneficiaries. This monthly financial support aims to assist unemployed South Africans struggling financially due to job losses or reduced income during the coronavirus pandemic.
According to SASSA, the SRD payments for February 2024 will be processed from the 23rd to the 29th of the month. Eligible recipients are advised to monitor their status on the SASSA SRD website for updates on exact disbursement dates, which may vary depending on individual applications. Typically, the funds reflect in beneficiaries’ bank accounts within 2 to 3 working days after processing.
To qualify for this financial relief, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Be South African citizens or permanent residents
Currently unemployed without income above R350/month
Between 18 and 60 years of age
Not receiving any other government grants
By providing timely assistance to those most economically vulnerable, the SRD grant aims to alleviate financial distress exacerbated by income losses during the COVID-19 pandemic.
